During a Special Meeting on September 9, 2021, Council appointed by acclamation,
Tory Delaurier, who was the only candidate to submit his name for the vacant mayoral
The mayoral seat was declared vacant on September 1, 2021, by a resolution of Council,
at the Regular Meeting of August 30, 2021. Council abided by the Town of Iroquois
Falls Council Vacancy Policy to fill the Mayor's vacancy by appointment amongst the
existing members of Council. Interested councillors had to submit a letter stating their
intent, five business days before the Special Meeting.
Tory is the most experienced member of Council, having been elected four times, serving
the community as a councillor for 15 years in total. Staff has been very pleased with his
performance as Acting Mayor, and this appointment sets the Town up for continuing the
forward momentum that has been generated.
Mayor Delaurier shall hold the office for the remainder of the term of the current Council.
The next municipal election will be held October 24, 2022.
