COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT TEAM

WHO ARE WE? WHAT DO WE DO?

The Iroquois Falls Community Development Team (CDT) board of directors consists of business owner’s, community members and municipal representatives who are all volunteers and believe in our community.   We feel that there is a need to create awareness for those who do not realize what the Community Development Team does.

The Iroquois Falls Community Development Team are a not-for-profit organization who works in collaboration with the Town of Iroquois Falls to help promote a culturally diverse, open, innovative, and sustainable community that offers an excellent quality of life.

The team employs a coordinator, Traci Workman, who has been very active in assisting local organizations as well as new and existing businesses.  The office is located at 522 D’Iberville Ave in the Union Gas building.

CDT has been advertising with the Business Enterprise Centre whom we have partnered with to better serve the area.  We have appeared in the local paper with our success stories of helping small business and not-for-profit organizations apply and receive government funding to assist with their business.  We hosted Entrepreneur and business workshops to help community members who were looking into owning their own business.  We promote festivals and events through our advertising in various tourism brochures across the region.  We actively look for new business outside of the community.

We are economic development and community development which means we involve ourselves with many aspects of the community.  We assisted the coalition to save the Met site with mail outs to our community members to create awareness of the impact the closing of the plant meant for the entire area.  We helped compile the information for the fishing regulation changes that were lobbied for a few years ago.  We also support the Northeast Community Network with their regional efforts.  We were instrumental in establishing the Lumberjack roadside attraction as well as the new Artisan and Crafts Display/ Information Centre on highway 11 which will help showcase our local talent.

We are here to help you the community and others that want to become part of our wonderful little town.  We might not always be successful in finding funding for your particular project but we will explore all possibilities and exhaust all options to find whatever we can that suits your situation.
